Content manager, editor, strategist — these are just a few of the titles I’ve held over the years.
But I’ll always call myself a “writer” first. I’ve been telling stories since I could talk and writing them down since I could hold a pencil.
Creativity is a core part of my personal identity, as well as my professional work.
My lifelong zeal for storytelling, combined with my formal education and practical experience, make me a messaging maven — and a massive asset to any editorial team. (To quote one of my happy clients!)
Scroll on to learn a little more about my personal and professional experience, plus a few fun facts about the human behind the brand.
Business in the front...
Personal experience
- By age 3, I was making up tall tales about the green monster who lived in the woods behind our house.
- By age 9, I was scribbling stories in spiral notebooks when I was supposed to be doing homework and getting in trouble for “reading too much” in class.
- By age 12, I’d just finished writing my first novel in Wordpad. I deleted all 18 chapters after reading them once. You might say my inner critic started young.
- By age 14, I was tinkering around with blogging and basic web design on MySpace and Twitter.
- By age 18, I’d scooped up over a dozen awards at school for my writing. My favorite was the English Department Award my senior year of high school.
Professional experience
- By age 13, I was managing my first team of writers and interviewing subject-matter experts as an editor on my middle school’s journalism team.
- By age 17, I had a second team of writers under my belt as the news editor of our high school paper, plus 5 years of experience writing, editing, designing, publishing, and distributing copy and content.
- By age 22, I’d graduated from a master’s program on the subject I’ve loved all my life: math. (Kidding, obv!)
...party in the back!
If you made it this far and you’re curious about who I am on a human level, here are some quick tidbits!
- I grew up in South Carolina, but I’ve lived in Ireland since 2017.
- My home office slash spare bedroom is bee-themed. (And so is my dedicated writing website, Mellifera Muses!)
- I own roughly 574 pens, markers, and other bits of stationery. Did I really sit down and count them all? Yes. Did I have better things to do? Also yes.
